BRIEF:

To make any product using leather and explore its charecteristics.

MATERIALS USED:

  • Raw goat leather
  • Pattern making brown paper
  • Canvas
  • Foam board
  • Round knife
  • Belt buckles
  • Push bottons
  • Sticking adhesive
  • Hole punch
  • Mallet

PROCESS:

  • First of all, design was decided and dimensions were measured and the pattern was drawn accordingly on the brown pattern making paper.
  • Tools were gathered which were needed.
  • Canvas which is stitched inside the leather was cut according to the dimension.
  • The leather was then expanded with the help of some water and the expanding tool, then the face which is inside and is rough was scraped out with the scrapper.
  • After the leather is expanded, it was cut using the round knife according to the dimensions and stuck with the canvas using the its special adhesive.
  • Foam board was used to make the sides of the bag stiff so the pieces were fixed in between the leather and canvas. The edged were sewed using sewing machine and the buttons and buckles were put accordingly.
  • To make the leather look more darker in colour mustard oil was applied and kept under the sun for some time.
